June 5th Eclipse: How Stable Are You Really?

June 5th Lunar Eclipse in Jyeshta Nakshatra

How stable are you really?

The Moon Eclipsing in Jyeshta Nakshatra, in the sign of Scorpio, is a time when agitations can become ripe, and unrest often courses through the atmosphere. Scorpio is a sign all about water and the emotions, Jyestha nakshatra represents a sharp and fierce aspect of the emotional body.

During this time, the emotions can become easily agitated. When stuck in desire, emotion, or trauma, one needs to recognize that no matter how hard it is, no matter how bad it feels right now, the feeling will not last forever. Pain lends itself to a sense of permanence in the mind; when consumed with pain and suffering, one loses the capacity to imagine life beyond it. Technically the moon (mind) is in a debilitated state during this eclipse, which means that the odds are stacked against mental and emotional stability at this time. Be wary of upheavals.

When one feels angry, they become anger. And an angry person will likely pick fights with those around them, possibly making another angry in the process. What they don’t always realize is that their anger may exist entirely because another planted that seed of anger inside them. Like increases like, and anger in one can spread to another like a forest fire igniting the trees around it. There is no free will in this, just anger causing more anger. This cycle is a nest of troubles.

However, one can stay with the facts, and still take personal responsibility for any lack of peace, love, and harmony around oneself. Ultimately, no one can force another to feel unwell. We all have the potential to feel completely at odds with the world, and still at peace with oneself. We are all connected, yet still distinct. Just because another is behaving hatefully, doesn’t mean one has to hate in response. There are few sufferings worse than hate coursing through one’s veins. Don’t lose your distinction.

All energy is ultimately just potential. The moon in Scorpio tends to generate potentiality towards intensity. When things become too intense, most respond with tunnel vision and mistakes, particularly when emotions are front and center.

However, the intensity of this Jyeshta energy doesn’t mean that it has to become overwhelming and destructive. It’s still just energy. Since this is a water sign there is always the opportunity to channel that intensity into devotion or love. When one can shift from intense anger and frustration to intense devotion and connection to ourselves, our beliefs, our family, and our community, one can generate immense beauty and understanding. This is the process of inner alchemy.

If one cannot shift or channel the intensity of Jyeshta Nakshatra, then outbursts of all kinds are possible. It is easier to unleash the intensity in a single act or initiative than calmly addressing it over time. This, however, is a risky endeavor. Does it ever really help when a husband or wife unleashed their frustrations on their partner, even if there is a ‘valid’ reason? Once the equipoise of mind is lost... good luck avoiding regrettable choices.

This isn’t to say that an individual effort can’t have a massive impact. It can, especially when said demonstrations are carried out for the common good-- not selfishly and ego driven. However, similar to laying down all one’s chips on a single hand, unleashing intense energy could turn into a one and done event. If you can’t play the next hand, or take the fight to the next round, then it could have all been done for not. This approach plays into the oppressors favor. Remember, the house usually wins.

This is because the present power structure is a product of lifetimes of concerted selfish and hateful efforts by the power hungry. Most of the time (in America), these power hungry, manipulative creatures have taken the form of White Men.

In an attempt to manipulate the world in their favor, they stacked the deck against minorities or ‘others’, creating a system designed to keep the disadvantaged down. When frustration from oppression overwhelms and the disadvantaged react emotionally, a skewed legal system and discriminatory police enforcement practices usually squash one even further down.

Since this unjust system is the creation of lifetimes of selfishness and hate, the only true solution is offering a lifetime of concerted unselfish and humanitarian efforts. There is no quick fix. If the system took 100 years to build, it could take another 100 years to fully heal.

The only way is to keep showing up each and every day. Stay true to one’s self, stay grounded in spiritual or creative practices, and diligent in humanitarian work.

If there is a time to embody these teachings, it’s now. The long-term impact of selfless, spiritual, and devotional acts is said to be amplified 1000 fold when done during the eclipse. The Karmic accounting is on steroids.

So, if there is something positive you can do, please exert the effort on June 5th. For your gain and the worlds. Activism relies on our actions.

BLACK LIVES MATTER.
